Winter Storm Watch

Environment Canada has issued a Winter Storm watch warning. A major spring blizzard is expected to hit Tuesday night bringing with it 70-90km hour winds and 30-50 cm of snow. Do not plan to travel – this storm has the potential to be the worst blizzard in decades. Stock up on needed supplies and medications now. Power outages are likely, rural areas in particular should be prepared for extended outages.

  1. If there is a loss of power or experience any power issues, report the outage online https://www.hydro.mb.ca/outages/ or contact MB Hydro at 204-480-5900 or toll free at 1-888-624-9376.
  2. Dependent on weather conditions and/or power outages, Town staff may not be able to make it safetly into the office for work.  We will make every effort to post updates to the Town of Morris website and social media.
  3. Make sure you are prepared for the storm. Stay Home Stay Safe. More information can be found at getprepared.gc.ca , including emergency kits, resources, and much more.
  4. Public works  will make their best efforts to clear the roads of any snow, weather permitting. Poor visibility and/or road closures may result in a delay in snow clearing operations. Please remember to remove your vehicles from the road to allow room for snow clearing operations, whenever possible.
  5. Should you lose power, be sure to check your ground sump pumps and septic pumps. Regulate the water levels in your sump pump pit, reduce water usage. Should levels get too high, you may need to bail out water.
